PRELIMINARY BACKGROUND APPLICATION – Police Officer
(Rev 03/2022)

Instructions to the Applicant

The information you provide in this Preliminary Background Application will be used in the background investigation to assist in determining your suitability for the position of City of Los Santos Police Officer, in accordance with San Andreas POST Commission Regulation 1953.
  • • It is your responsibility to complete this form and provide all required information.

    • This document must be filled out electronically and printed.

    • You must respond to all items and questions. If a question does not apply to you, write “DNA” (does not apply) in the space provided.

    • Send the completed form to your background investigator or the department. Do NOT send the form to POST.

(( Your application must be titled "Firstname Lastname. ))

(( Your answers should only replace the fields that say "Answer." It should not extend outside the color code box. ))

(( Do not edit the application format in any way. You may add additional fields to any area or questions or replace hyperlinks with DNA. ))

(( You may be non-select if your application is put on "Pending" status more than twice for formatting issues or missing questions. This is also the case in character. ))

(( Upon completion of this application, your character will undergo a 'psychological evaluation'. This is entirely an NPC process. It is your responsibility to inform the Personnel and Training Division if your psychological evaluation fails or shows any concerns. ))

Disqualification

There are very few automatic bases for rejection. Even issues of prior misconduct, such as prior illegal drug use, driving under the influence, theft, or even arrest or conviction are usually not, in and of themselves, automatically disqualifying. However, deliberate misstatements or omissions can and often will result in your application being rejected, regardless of the nature or reason for the misstatements/omissions. In fact, the number one reason individuals “fail” background investigations is because they deliberately withhold or misrepresent job-relevant information from their prospective employer.

BOTTOM LINE: You are responsible for providing complete, accurate, and truthful responses.

Vince Hanna is a disgraced and former detective from Liberty City, forced into an early retirement and a relocation to Los Santos after being implicated in a shooting that killed an innocent bystander. He was born in the borough of Dukes, to a single mother, in meager and humble circumstances. He was the youngest of three boys, all living in a small two bedroom apartment, and while Vince tried to stay out of trouble, with such tight quarters it was hard not to get dragged into it. Suffice to say, the Hanna boys got up to plenty of vagrancy in their formative years. Most people would say Vince was the last person you'd expect to become a police officer, outwardly he had the most aggressive tendencies of his brothers, but he quietly harbored a deep sense of justice and righteousness that often frustrated his older brothers; to them he was only holding them back and when his mother died when he was just seventeen, Vince came to a crossroads, to either align himself with the life of crime his brothers lived in order to ensure his survival, or seek salvation in literally anything else.

So he ended up in the police academy, having a relatively successful career with the LSPD, working his way up the ranks quickly until he was a homicide detective, little did he know it was the last thing he could have wanted. The case that killed Detective Hanna's career consumed his life in the final months before his move to Los Santos, he was chasing a suspect responsible for murdering several innocent people in a string of robberies, tracking the crew he was running with meticulously, only to find it was his own brothers and a stranger who had caused all of it. In the confusion of the confrontation, a bystander was shot and killed with Hanna's gun, and the suspects got away. With this blunder, and after months of spiraling further and further because of this case, the LSPD no longer saw Hanna as an asset worth protecting, and although they did him the favor of handling the shooting internally and keeping it under wraps, the detective was still forced into an early retirement, and needed to move away from the only place he'd ever called home. With one final goodbye to Dukes, and Liberty City, Vince Hanna moves to Los Santos, seeking salvation from the ghosts that haunt him, and redemption for the mistakes he made, striving to make an impact in law enforcement once more someday.
