(( Character Development and Expectations ))

This notice serves to advise those wishing to apply for the Los Santos Police Department of our expectations and standards in regards to character development and information that is provided in the Preliminary Background Application (PBA) and faction as a whole. All aspiring candidates should read and take heed of this topic before applying.

The LSPD is one of the most influential factions on the server. With respect to that, we strive to be role models for the community. Our faction's mission is to provide quality police roleplay to the server. This is achieved through a heavy emphasis placed on character development, realism, impartialness to other groups of roleplayers (i.e. illegal), and a portrayal of the Los Angeles Police Department.

All candidates must provide realistic and plausible information regarding their character. They must also be able to justify any qualifications or credentials they listed on their PBA upon being asked. If it is believed that a candidate has implausible information, they will be approached about it. Those who cannot meet the standard of the LSPD will be disqualified from the recruitment process. Keep in mind that we are emulating the general aesthetic of a police department in the West Coast of the United States, rather than one made up of unique exceptions, and character portrayal is no exception to this. Prior to submitting your application, you should question whether or not your character development makes sense and how common a character with such traits would be in the setting we strive to portray. Reasons you may be approached include, but are not limited to:
  1. Fluently speaking multiple (3+) languages at a young age with no formal education to justify it;
  2. Serving in the U.S. Armed Forces but having an age/rank that is not possible;
  3. Moving from a foreign country to the United States to become a police officer;
  4. Other instances where the candidate's background may be questionable.
This is not to say that the previous examples are completely forbidden. However, all candidates must be prepared to provide a realistic and plausible explanation in regards to their character's qualifications, credentials, and development when asked. Superfluous information like languages spoken does not make you a more attractive candidate.

It is very important that this is understood and represented by all aspiring candidates, as the LSPD prioritizes roleplay quality and character development. Providing implausible information and then being unable to justify them will likely result in an application denial.

Furthermore, our goal of representing ourselves in a positive light extends to character names. The following types of names are unacceptable and will lead to disqualification:
  1. Unrealistic names;
  2. Famous names;
  3. Unreasonable character names/extremely rare names;
  4. Notable and/or relevant SA-MP names.
We have a zero-tolerance policy for those who apply with names that match any of the conditions above. This reflects poorly on the faction and depending on the severity, it may be considered a breach of account rule 5. Current and prospective faction members are held to a higher standard than regular players. Should a candidate be denied for having an unrealistic name, a famous name, or an unreasonable character name, they may name-change and re-apply within the same recruitment drive.

All candidates should understand that being part of this faction is not a right, but rather a privilege that is earned through showcasing their ability to meet the faction's standards. The LSPD strives to be a top-tier law enforcement faction that provides roleplay to the community. We're not here to police the server, we're here to provide law enforcement roleplay to the community which is enjoyable for all parties involved.

To conclude: if you are here for the cop chases, the shootouts, the thrill of pulling people over and issuing tickets, or you have some sort of out-of-character vendetta against illegal roleplayers and want to "clean up the streets free of crime," then this faction is not for you. All members are held to a higher standard than regular players and your intentions should be pure when applying for the faction. We do not tolerate "play-to-win" or "robocop" mentalities in this faction; we want fruitful characters who just so happen to work jobs as police officers. A strong system that tests mindset and intentions has been put in place to ensure the LSPD is only inviting those who are passionate about passive and enjoyable roleplay. The way you behave and represent yourself on all LS-RP mediums will also be considered.

With that being said, if you're receptive to criticism, advice, and are willing to learn, we strongly encourage you to give our faction a shot and wish you the best of luck in our recruitment process.

Should you have any questions and/or concerns, please direct them to the Commanding Officer of Recruitment and Employment Division.
