Harbor Area Celebrates Success of Operation Capture
Operation Capture was a directive set up by Police Lieutenant II Frederick Marsh of Harbor Patrol Division with an aim of driving up the number of seizures of firearms, drugs, and burglary tools. The goal was to halve break-ins and double seizures of contraband. The operation lasted from February 1st to February 28th. Harbor Area saw a spike in burglaries and gang-related activity in 2024, with a 7.4% increase in gang shootings in January 2025 compared to January 2024.
Over the course of the month, officers attended burglaries with the aim of being on scene for any property alarm within 10 minutes.
