Harbor Area Celebrates Success of Operation Capture

Operation Capture was a directive set up by Police Lieutenant II Frederick Marsh of Harbor Patrol Division with an aim of driving up the number of seizures of firearms, drugs, and burglary tools. The goal was to halve break-ins and double seizures of contraband. The operation lasted from February 1st to February 28th. Harbor Area saw a spike in burglaries and gang-related activity in 2024, with a 7.4% increase in gang shootings in January 2025 compared to January 2024.

Over the course of the month, officers attended burglaries with the aim of being on scene for any property alarm within 10 minutes.

The following officers are awarded for their efforts in Operation Capture:

• Police Sergeant I Thomas McLoughlin – Community Policing Medal
• Police Officer II Bob Boulevard – Commendation Ribbon
• Police Sergeant II Henry Delaney – Commendation Ribbon

A total of 13 firearms were seized and recorded under Operation Capture, including Glock handguns and an AK-style assault rifle. A variety of drugs intended for sale on our streets were seized, including cocaine and xanax.
