The information you provide in this Preliminary Background Application will be used in the background investigation to assist in determining your suitability for the position of City of Los Santos Police Officer, in accordance with San Andreas POST Commission Regulation 1953.

Disqualification

There are very few automatic bases for rejection. Even issues of prior misconduct, such as prior illegal drug use, driving under the influence, theft, or even arrest or conviction are usually not, in and of themselves, automatically disqualifying. However, deliberate misstatements or omissions can and often will result in your application being rejected, regardless of the nature or reason for the misstatements/omissions. In fact, the number one reason individuals “fail” background investigations is because they deliberately withhold or misrepresent job-relevant information from their prospective employer.

  Alex Lee Guo was born on March 1, 2002 in East Beach, Los Santos. He was raised in a Chinese-American family, often being surrounded with his extended family. He was an only child and he loved the comfort and time he had around his cousins, and he thought that it filled the void of having no siblings. His immigrant parents, at the time of his birth and childhood, were under the working class and they worked regular jobs for companies. His father worked as a cook in a local fast food and his mother worked in a grocery store. Soon they opened a family business which would flourish.
  
  Alex didn’t excel nor flunked school. He was only passing by every day in school but what stuck with other students and teachers about him was that he was a helpful and caring person. He always looked out for his friends in times of trouble but it wasn’t always reciprocated, which bothered Alex throughout his life. In high school, he started working part-time in a convenience store as a clerk to support his own needs. By that time, he wasn’t asking his family for his needs in school, only his tuition was to be taken care of by his parents. This meant that Alex was a responsible man even at a young age, and he felt like he didn’t want to be a burden in his family.
  
  After graduating high school, he decided not to go to college because of some family struggles both financially and emotionally. He instead helped out and worked as a delivery boy and assistant in their family business which opened recently in 2018. There he learned how to become more punctual, disciplined, and paid attention to detail. He loved serving customers while helping out his parents. One day while working the registers, their family business became a victim of a robbery. It wasn’t his first time witnessing a crime up close, but his heart raced. What bothered him the most is his parents’ reaction afterwards – his mother fainted after the ordeal and his father tried to get himself together. The police arrived quickly after Alex reported the robbery, but they were long gone. He then realized that he had a sense of urgency to protect his own family, and also the local community.
  
  He decided to pursue a career in law enforcement, researching about the department and how they operate and he became really interested as he loved helping people out and he was a responsible person. He saw it as an opportunity not only to protect his family but also be a voice of other immigrant families and he didn’t want them to live in fear. He understood that many immigrants distrusted the law and he thought that he could be a way to protect them. Alongside his hardworking mindset, unique perspective, ability to remain calm under pressure, he believes that he could be a valuable asset of the police department.
