Los Santos Police Department
PRELIMINARY BACKGROUND APPLICATION – Police Officer
(Rev 03/2022)

Instructions to the Applicant

The information you provide in this Preliminary Background Application will be used in the background investigation to assist in determining your suitability for the position of City of Los Santos Police Officer, in accordance with San Andreas POST Commission Regulation 1953.
  • • It is your responsibility to complete this form and provide all required information.

    • This document must be filled out electronically and printed.

    • You must respond to all items and questions. If a question does not apply to you, write “DNA” (does not apply) in the space provided.

    • Send the completed form to your background investigator or the department. Do NOT send the form to POST.

(( Your application must be titled "Firstname Lastname. ))

(( Your answers should only replace the fields that say "Answer." It should not extend outside the color code box. ))

(( Do not edit the application format in any way. You may add additional fields to any area or questions or replace hyperlinks with DNA. ))

(( You may be non-select if your application is put on "Pending" status more than twice for formatting issues or missing questions. This is also the case in character. ))

(( Upon completion of this application, your character will undergo a 'psychological evaluation'. This is entirely an NPC process. It is your responsibility to inform the Personnel and Training Division if your psychological evaluation fails or shows any concerns. ))

Disqualification

There are very few automatic bases for rejection. Even issues of prior misconduct, such as prior illegal drug use, driving under the influence, theft, or even arrest or conviction are usually not, in and of themselves, automatically disqualifying. However, deliberate misstatements or omissions can and often will result in your application being rejected, regardless of the nature or reason for the misstatements/omissions. In fact, the number one reason individuals “fail” background investigations is because they deliberately withhold or misrepresent job-relevant information from their prospective employer.

BOTTOM LINE: You are responsible for providing complete, accurate, and truthful responses.

Bobby Slocum grew up in the heart of Willowfield, Los Santos, a neighborhood where gunfire between rival gangs was more common than the sound of kids playing outside. Life wasn’t easy, but Bobby learned early on how to adapt and survive. His mother, a full-time mechanic, worked long hours to feed the family after his father left. Bobby admired her determination, often spending his afterschool hours at her repair shop, helping out where he learned how to fix as much as he could.

But while Bobby stayed on the straight path, his older brother didn’t. His brother became associated with a local gang, lured by promises of fast money and a way out. Watching his brother's life got out of control was a wake up call for Bobby. It wasn’t just the fear of losing his brother, it was realizing how easily he could have ended up in the same place. That moment became a turning point for Bobby, directly changed not only who he was but who he wanted to become.

Bobby was a quiet kid but a very attentive to detail in the room as he was always watching and always learning. He liked figuring things out by himself, whether it was a bad situation or a complicated test at school. But more than anything, Bobby had a strong sense of right and wrong, and the three core values, honor, courage and commitment that kept him moving forward. He knew that if he wanted a better life, he had to work for it.

He realized that the one and the only way out of the current situation is work hard at school, as it became one of his escape plan. He threw himself into his studies, knowing that education was the key to breaking free from the cycle of poverty and violence that trapped so many in Los Santos. It wasn’t easy as balancing schoolwork with hours at her mother's mechanic shop was exhausting, but Bobby was determined. After graduating from Willowfield High School, his hard work paid off when he earned a scholarship to study Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement at San Andreas University.

College was a game-changer for Bobby. It was the first time he’d really been able to step out of his comfort zone and see what else was out there. He didn’t just study Criminal Justice; he lived it. Bobby took on internships with local law enforcement, participated in the Citizens on Patrol program, and joined student groups focused on social justice. These experiences opened his eyes to the complexities of crime, especially in neighborhoods like his own.

He realized that change wasn’t just about locking people up, it was about understanding why crime happened in the first place. It was about addressing poverty, lack of opportunity, and the huge gap between law enforcement and the communities they served. Bobby knew he wanted to be part of that change. After graduating with a Bachelor's degree and a GPA of 4.0. he packed his bags and headed back to Los Santos, ready to make a difference. Bobby’s decision to become a law enforcement personnel wasn’t about a paycheck or prestige but passion.

Upon returning to Los Santos, Bobby begin searching for employment with a side job as a garbageman. While walking down the street of Market, a poster made its way to Bobby. On the poster is the job bulletin from the Los Santos Police Department. After reading it, he realized that now is the time.
