Los Santos: Los Santos Police Department’s (LSPD) Force Investigation Section is investigating an Officer–Involved Shooting that occurred in Grapeseed.

On July 18th, 2023, around 1900 local time, officers from the Gang and Narcotics Division conducted a traffic stop on a black sedan on Roy Lowenstein. During the conduction of the traffic stop, the vehicle drove off in a reckless manner northbound, driving recklessly through the city and up Los Santos Freeway until reaching O'Neil Way, leaving their vehicle on foot, and barricading themselves inside one of the local farmhouses in the area. The officers believed the suspect to be armed, and inside a farmhouse on the second floor closest to town, they set up containment. The officers made several verbal announcements in both English and Spanish for the suspect to surrender. The suspected failed to surrender, which resulted in the transition of their tactics to a barricaded suspect, and Metropolitan Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) was paged to the scene.

The suspect after being asked to surrender opened fire on the perimeter established by the officers. Three officers were struck by the suspect's gunfire and subsequently extracted to a safe location, where they received medical attention. The remaining Officers on scene continued area containment of the scene while SWAT were being paged. Two D Platoon members already on scene realized the serious nature of the incident and decided to breach before further backup arrived. The SWAT officers made entry into the farmhouse, heading towards the location of the suspect. He fired at the SWAT officers before they neutralized the threat he posed, bringing him into custody. The Los Santos Fire Department personnel responded to provide medical treatment, and the suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The injured officers were transported to Mount Zonah Medical Center and treated for their injuries. The officers were admitted to the hospital and were listed in stable condition. No other officers or citizens were injured during the incident. One loaded automatic assault rifle was recovered at the scene identified as a 5.56x45 Mini-TAC 14.

On July 20, 2023, two of the officers injured during the incident were released from the hospital. One officer remains hospitalized and in stable condition.
