SELECTION PROCESS
- Below are the multiple stages and steps that test, prepare, and evaluate the candidate to ensure they are able to conduct their duties to the best of their ability and to the standards of the City of Los Santos.
I. APPLICANT STAGE
Step 1 — Preliminary Background Application
II. CANDIDATE STAGE
Step 2 — Department Interview
III. RECRUIT STAGE
Step 3 — Police Academy
Step 4 — Post-Academy Examination
IV. GRADUATE STAGE
Step 5 — Graduation
STEP 1 — PRELIMINARY BACKGROUND APPLICATION (PBA)
All applicants must complete the Preliminary Background Application in which basic information such as employment history, criminal record, educational and military records are gathered from the applicant and thoroughly investigated.
STEP 2 — DEPARTMENT INTERVIEW (DI)
The Department Interview (DI) will be conducted by a panel to assess your personal accomplishments, job motivation, instrumentality, interpersonal skills, continuous learning orientation, and oral communication skills. Only those candidates who pass this part of the process will receive a Conditional Job Offer. The passing score for the DI portion is 70% or higher, and your score is valid for 60 days should you wish to withdraw your application.
(( Additionally, the Departmental Interview will also be a gauge of whether someone is suitable for our faction on an out-of-character level. We are putting extreme emphasis on an individual being able to role play a character, not a cop. We want people who are willing to go in-depth in their development and provide interesting, fun, character-filled role play to the internal faction alongside external individuals. We have a zero-tolerance policy on this, and it will not change. )) Additional information on this will be provided when you reach this part of the process.
STEP 3 — POLICE ACADEMY (PA)
The Los Santos Police Academy is a 6-month training program held at the LSPD Training Center in Las Venturas, San Andreas. Instruction is generally Monday - Friday, 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM, with study time thereafter. Officers have weekends and holidays off. Much of the training occurs in the classroom, where officers learn law, human relations, Spanish, and report writing. Officers are also trained in tactics, firearms, and driving.
STEP 4 — POST-ACADEMY EXAMINATION (PAE)
Once you have completed the Police Academy, you will be required to complete the Post-Academy Examination. The examination is a written test and you will be required to retain all knowledge taught throughout the Academy in order to pass. You will be asked a variety of questions in order to fully evaluate your ability and potential as an officer in the Los Santos Police Department. This exam will feature thirty-five (35) situational, theoretical, and mindset questions that will gauge you from an IC and OOC perspective. This exam is two (2) hours and is based on an external website. Additional information on this will be provided when you reach this part of the process.
STEP 5 — GRADUATION
Graduation is the final step in the Los Santos Police Department's selection process. The graduation is a private ceremony available to all Recruit Officers who achieve a passing grade in the Post-Academy Examination. At the ceremony, you will be sworn into the Department by the Chief of Police and will receive your badge. Graduation marks your transition into the Department's Field Training Program.
