Los Santos Police Department to Conduct Saturation Patrols and DUI Checkpoints in Mission Row Area
WHAT:
Saturation Patrols and DUI Checkpoint
WHEN:
July 23, 2023
9 p.m.
WHERE:
Saturation Patrol from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. in Mission Row Area
DUI Checkpoint from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Strawberry Avenue and Vespucci Boulevard
WHY:
The DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on careful considerations aimed at identifying areas with a higher likelihood of encountering drivers who may have consumed alcohol and are potentially driving under the influence. These checkpoints are strategically placed in the vicinity of bars, nightclubs, and other establishments where alcohol is sold, as these locations tend to attract individuals who may be more prone to alcohol consumption. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints is to promote public safety by educating drivers on the perils of DUI and by taking suspected impaired drivers off the road.

The Los Santos Police Department reminds the public that impaired driving is not just from alcohol. Some prescription medications and over-the-counter drugs may interfere with driving. While medicinal and recreational marijuana is legal, driving under the influence of marijuana is illegal.
