Los Santos Police Department
PRELIMINARY BACKGROUND APPLICATION – Police Officer
(Rev 03/2022)

Instructions to the Applicant

The information you provide in this Preliminary Background Application will be used in the background investigation to assist in determining your suitability for the position of City of Los Santos Police Officer, in accordance with San Andreas POST Commission Regulation 1953.
  • • It is your responsibility to complete this form and provide all required information.

    • This document must be filled out electronically and printed.

    • You must respond to all items and questions. If a question does not apply to you, write “DNA” (does not apply) in the space provided.

    • Send the completed form to your background investigator or the department. Do NOT send the form to POST.

(( Your application must be titled "Firstname Lastname. ))

(( Your answers should only replace the fields that say "Answer." It should not extend outside the color code box. ))

(( Do not edit the application format in any way. You may add additional fields to any area or questions or replace hyperlinks with DNA. ))

(( You may be non-select if your application is put on "Pending" status more than twice for formatting issues or missing questions. This is also the case in character. ))

(( Upon completion of this application, your character will undergo a 'psychological evaluation'. This is entirely an NPC process. It is your responsibility to inform the Personnel and Training Division if your psychological evaluation fails or shows any concerns. ))

Disqualification

There are very few automatic bases for rejection. Even issues of prior misconduct, such as prior illegal drug use, driving under the influence, theft, or even arrest or conviction are usually not, in and of themselves, automatically disqualifying. However, deliberate misstatements or omissions can and often will result in your application being rejected, regardless of the nature or reason for the misstatements/omissions. In fact, the number one reason individuals “fail” background investigations is because they deliberately withhold or misrepresent job-relevant information from their prospective employer.

BOTTOM LINE: You are responsible for providing complete, accurate, and truthful responses.

  • Spoiler: show
Ninita Cortez was born at the Tortilla Flats in Los Santos 27th of February 1999 with her parents being Aurora Cortez and Julian Cortez. The family wasn't that wealthy but they managed, her mother working at the local grocery store around the corner which Ninita helped sweeping from time to time while her father worked at a garage just up the road near Strawberry. Although Ninita was kept off the loop, her father was involved with the Varrio doing various activities.

Ninita was rather quiet herself, mostly clinging to her mother when she could and frequently spent time watching the planes fly above their block as they were located relatively close to Los Santos Airport. Ocasionally looking at the LSPD helicopter flying by whenever she could. Not being the best social flower and having no interest in cars, she was rather lonely and didn't have many friends around who she could speak to and frequent violence and crime in the area often made her dream of flying away.
This all buildt up over time as her interest in flying grew stronger, not just for the sake of flying but to get away. Her mother always encouraged her to study and reminded her that if she did well, she could do whatever she wanted. So Ninita did as she was told and studied most of her free time, only making some brief friends at school although the friendships quickly dropped after the year was over. Around the time she turned 14, her father would begin to come home later and later before eventually not coming back before 5-6 in the morning.
Around this time, Ninita would often come home to seeing her mother and father argue. They would yell at each other and scold each other before leaving for their seperate rooms, when Ninita asked her father about what's happening all he would do is comfort her and saying that it's just issues with economy. A few years later her father finally explained to her why he had always gotten home so late, and explained that he had been boosting cars and selling car parts alongside other activities to support Ninita's education as they wanted her to live a proper life.

Around this time, Ninita would finally graduate highschool and enter University of Los Santos, San Andreas where she took up Aerospace Engineering as she figured it would be what was closest to her wishes. Her grades being pretty high up, getting accepted wasn't ever a issue for her. She had essentially dedicated her early life just for studies after all. The first year went just fine, and Ninita even managed to gather a few friends within her classes. However during her second year where she would eventually end up with her Associates degree, things would start going downhill.
Persuaded into partying with her friends and hanging out began to take a toll on her grades, barely passing her classes. Her teachers would frequently speak to her, expressing their worry as she was a top student but Ninita was too focused on her friends. Always being the anti-social one, finally having a circle she felt apart of really took her focus and sidetracked her. This with the stress of her teachers hit her really hard, eventually she was informed that if she kept this up then the worst case scenario was that she would fail her exams and not pass.
However during this, a blessing in surprise happened. Ninita got a call from LSPD, informing her that her parents had been murdered in a conflict between the Varrio and Jamestown. Not a lot of information was given to Ninita, other than that both parents died at the hospital after severe internal bleeding from bullet wounds. It was unclear if this was a mistake, or perhaps the wrong car boosted? Ninita would never know but it reminded her of her goal to leave the flats. Living at ULSA had made her almost forget why she was there to begin with.
Although sad, and Ninita quickly falling back into her anti-social self she decided to focus on her studies. Her idea was to get a successful job and move somewhere safe, where she could have her own family. No violence and having to go in early to be safe, and no late hours boosting cars or similar to cover her child if she ever got one. Holding no grudge she kept up her work, and same time next year she finally got her Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering.

Upon graduating with her Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering, Ninita found herself at a crossroads. Despite her achievements, she questioned whether aerospace engineering was truly her passion. Reflecting on her parents' legacy, she realized that her desire for safety and stability could be fulfilled through a different path: law enforcement.

Motivated by the need for change and a commitment to creating a safer environment for others, Ninita made the bold decision to join the US Air Force. This experience not only provided her with valuable skills and discipline but also allowed her to serve her country and gain a new perspective on life.

After a year in the Air Force, Ninita decided to take a different route towards her goal of ensuring safety and security. She left the military with a gamble as she set her sights on becoming a police officer, determined to make a difference in her community. Little did she know that her journey from the Tortilla Flats to the Air Force would prepare her for the challenges she would face as she pursued her new career path, armed with resilience, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to justice.
