DESCRIPTION
  • DUTIES
As a sworn member of the Los Santos Police Department, a Police Officer maintains order, enforces laws and ordinances, and protects life and property; issues citations, makes arrests, prepares reports, and provides information to the public and departmental units; works with neighborhood associations and community members as a planner, community organizer, problem solver and information link; and related work.

    REQUIREMENTS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    1. At least 20 years of age at the time of application and 21 years of age by police academy graduation.
    2. Graduation from a U.S. high school, G.E.D. or equivalent from a U.S. institution, or a San Andreas High School Proficiency Examination (SAHSPE) certificate is required. A two or four year college degree from an accredited U.S. or foreign institution may be substituted for the high school requirements. Documentation demonstrating that the institution is accredited must be submitted prior to taking the written test.
    3. United States citizenship, or non-citizens must be permanent resident aliens who, in accordance with the requirements of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), are eligible and have applied for citizenship. Documentation that the USCIS accepted the candidate's application for citizenship prior to the written test date must be submitted during the selection process.
    4. A valid San Andreas driver's license is required prior to appointment. Applicants will be disqualified and not eligible for hire if their record within the last 36 months reflects three or more moving violations and/or at-fault accidents, or a conviction of a major moving violation (such as DUI).
    5. You must be in excellent health, with no conditions that would restrict your ability to safely complete Academy training and perform police work for the Los Santos Police Department. 6. Be able to communicate in English fluently through voice and text.
    7. Be able to develop a well-rounded and believable character.
    8. Be able to treat all players of the server with respect, refrain from playing to win, and understand that we are here to provide quality police roleplay, not police the server.
    NOTES
    1. Hiring may be closed without prior notice.
    2. Academy dates may be changed or removed without prior notice.
    3. Hiring inquiries should be mailed to the Recruitment and Employment Division. Candidates should not use the non-emergency number.
    4. (( If you were previously a member of the faction and were terminated, whether it was IC or OOC, you need to file a request for reinstatement before going through the hiring process. The only exception to this is if you resigned prior to September 2021, in which you may apply without attempting to reinstate if you desire. Should reinstatement requests be closed, you are free to apply for the recruitment process. ))
    5. (( You may only have 1 forum account. If you need help recovering an account, contact a Command Officer. ))
    6. (( Candidates who decide to name change after entering the process will be disqualified. ))
    7. (( You must have read the Character Development and Expectations thread before applying. ))

SELECTION PROCESS
  • Below are the multiple stages and steps that test, prepare, and evaluate the candidate to ensure they are able to conduct their duties to the best of their ability and to the standards of the City of Los Santos.

    I. APPLICANT STAGE
Step 1 — Preliminary Background Application

    II. CANDIDATE STAGE
    Step 2 — Department Interview

    III. RECRUIT STAGE
    Step 3 — Police Academy
    Step 4 — Post-Academy Examination

    IV. GRADUATE STAGE
    Step 5 — Graduation

STEP 1 — PRELIMINARY BACKGROUND APPLICATION (PBA)
All applicants must complete the Preliminary Background Application in which basic information such as employment history, criminal record, educational and military records are gathered from the applicant and thoroughly investigated.

STEP 2 — DEPARTMENT INTERVIEW (DI)
The Department Interview (DI) will be conducted by a panel to assess your personal accomplishments, job motivation, instrumentality, interpersonal skills, continuous learning orientation, and oral communication skills. Only those candidates who pass this part of the process will receive a Conditional Job Offer. The passing score for the DI portion is 70% or higher, and your score is valid for 60 days should you wish to withdraw your application.

(( Additionally, the Departmental Interview will also be a gauge of whether someone is suitable for our faction on an out-of-character level. We are putting extreme emphasis on an individual being able to role play a character, not a cop. We want people who are willing to go in-depth in their development and provide interesting, fun, character-filled role play to the internal faction alongside external individuals. We have a zero-tolerance policy on this, and it will not change. )) Additional information on this will be provided when you reach this part of the process.

STEP 3 — POLICE ACADEMY (PA)
The Los Santos Police Academy is a 6-month training program held at the LSPD Training Center in Las Venturas, San Andreas. Instruction is generally Monday - Friday, 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM, with study time thereafter. Officers have weekends and holidays off. Much of the training occurs in the classroom, where officers learn law, human relations, Spanish, and report writing. Officers are also trained in tactics, firearms, and driving.

    STEP 4 — POST-ACADEMY EXAMINATION (PAE)
Once you have completed the Police Academy, you will be required to complete the Post-Academy Examination. The examination is a written test and you will be required to retain all knowledge taught throughout the Academy in order to pass. You will be asked a variety of questions in order to fully evaluate your ability and potential as an officer in the Los Santos Police Department. This exam will feature thirty-five (35) situational, theoretical, and mindset questions that will gauge you from an IC and OOC perspective. This exam is two (2) hours and is based on an external website. Additional information on this will be provided when you reach this part of the process.

    STEP 5 — GRADUATION
Graduation is the final step in the Los Santos Police Department's selection process. The graduation is a private ceremony available to all Recruit Officers who achieve a passing grade in the Post-Academy Examination. At the ceremony, you will be sworn into the Department by the Chief of Police and will receive your badge. Graduation marks your transition into the Department's Field Training Program.
