DESCRIPTION
DUTIES
Public Relations Specialist is a civilian employed position with the Los Santos Police Department. A Public Relations Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, promoting, and maintaining a positive image of the department through proactively developing and facilitating releases to the media on developing/breaking stories regarding criminal offenses, investigations, and/or other areas of public concern; creating and monitoring the content for standard social media platforms; implementing public information strategies to maintain and improve a positive relationship between the Los Santos Police Department and the City of Los Santos; promoting the department through the identification/provision of information on stories of interest to the media, and periodic public service messages; researching and writing articles of interest for publication in periodicals and journals. This position will also be responsible for answering written and telephone inquiries regarding Police Department activities; developing and maintaining a rapport with news media representatives; and serving as an informational resource for City management, the press, and the general public.
REQUIREMENT(S)/MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S)
- Graduation from a U.S. high school, G.E.D. or equivalent from a U.S. institution, or a San Andreas High School Proficiency Examination (SAHSPE) certificate is required. A two or four-year college degree from an accredited U.S. or foreign institution may be substituted for the high school requirements. Documentation demonstrating that the institution is accredited must be submitted prior to taking the written test.
- Public Relations Specialists are expected to write at an elevated level of English. It is expected that applicants must be able to write English excellently at a university-level of writing. This is to ensure that applicants use clear, legible and coherently chosen wording so that messages are created transparently.
- United States citizenship or non-citizens must be permanent resident aliens who, in accordance with the requirements of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), are eligible and have applied for citizenship. Documentation that the USCIS accepted the candidate's application for citizenship prior to the written test date must be submitted during the selection process.
- A valid San Andreas driver's license is required prior to appointment. Applicants will be disqualified and not eligible for hire if their record within the last 36 months reflects three or more moving violations and/or at-fault accidents, or a conviction of a major moving violation (such as DUI).
- A Public Relations Specialist is entrusted with the responsibility of maintaining and improving the image of the Los Santos Police Department. Therefore, a history of ethical and moral behavior is of the utmost importance. Your background will be looked at very closely. Candidates who have a history of unethical or immoral behavior will not be hired. You will be subjected to an intensive background evaluation, pursuant to the City of Los Santos Public Safety Background Standards.
